How to clean an oven yourself

What you need

• Baking soda, water and vinegar
• Gloves, a sponge and a soft brush
• A microfibre cloth

Steps

1. Switch the oven off and let it cool. Take out the racks and trays.
2. Mix half a cup of baking soda with a few tablespoons of water into a thick paste.
3. Spread the paste on the walls and floor, thickly over carbon. Be gentle with the glass.
4. Leave it overnight, at least 8 hours.
5. Wipe with a damp sponge, then spray with vinegar: the reaction with soda loosens grease.
6. Wipe with clean water and dry.

Racks and glass

Soak the racks in hot soapy water with soda for 1-2 hours, then use a brush. Do not rub the glass with an abrasive sponge, it will scratch.

Safety

When using ready-made oven cleaners wear gloves and ventilate the kitchen. Never mix different cleaning products.
